John - "The old Rival chain sadly no longer exists but when I left HMV to start my own store I wanted to pay homage to my beginnings, to the place where I fell in love with music. I did work experience in Rival, on Royal Parade Plymouth and then secured a Saturday job. I loved every minute of it and knew then that one day I would have my own record store. I left Rival to get a full-time position at HMV, where I worked for 28 years, managing several stores across the country. Working for HMV was a real pleasure but I really wanted to follow my dream and open my own record store.
