It’s all about the joy of new music discovery.

From our friendly neighbourhood space in the heart of hove we proudly stock a wide range of genres, all hand picked, for customers to explore and find the next gem. . With a state of the art sound system, a cosy coffee bar and passionate staff it's the perfect space to spend some time enjoying good music.

With an ambition to try and do things differently, we've designed the store to allow for easy browsing with big gallery style wall displays to showcase the beautiful album artwork alongside qr codes on every album to allow you to explore the artist and take a listen. There's a cafe where you can relax and try new music, and an ethos of non judgemental new music discovery.

Can you remember the first record you sold in the shop? And the last?

The first was cymande’s debut lp. And, as at 5 minutes ago, the last was enter the wu-tang.

Do you remember the first record shop you went to? And you do you remember the first record you bought?

My first ‘proper’ record shop was a place called focus sounds in Hampshire. They used to get my paper round money every Saturday and I got some new romantic 12”s in return! That said, my first purchase a few years earlier was blondie’s denis on 7” from, I think, WH smith!

What is your favourite record shop (apart from your own!) And why?

Sounds of the universe. Small enough not to be overwhelmed, always brilliant stock and it was their little sticky labels on the cds telling me about the artist and music that was the inspiration for our own QR code solution.

What’s your most memorable record store experience?

Ezra collective blew the doors off resident in ’22 with their instore and showed 200 of us what the rest of the world was going to experience in ’23.

What's the best gig you've ever been to?

Can I have 3? Faithless at brixton academy. Chaka khan at Ronnie Scotts. Stevie wonder at glasto. Sums up the capsule stock policy too!

What's your all-time favourite book?

The Magus by John Fowles

What's your all-time favourite film?

Anything Bourne.

Who would form your all-time festival line-up? (past & present)

Elvis. Stevie. Michael. Prince. George. David. Nina. Gil. The chems!
