We are delighted to take part in Record Store Day again this year!

We have so many loyal customers who support us throughout the year, not just RSD. They all help to add the feel good factor to the day.

Normally we have bands playing at the shop but we’ve decided to break with that tradition this year and keep the shop free for customers browsing the racks. We will have even more RSD stock than ever before so hopefully everyone will find what they’re looking for from the RSD release list.

We will of course have our usual breakfast for those waiting in the queue at 8am; bacon or egg rolls supplied by the Italian on The Mound deli next door!

Plus a free to enter prize raffle for one of the fantastic Rega RSD turntables.

We’ll be working to help raise awareness on RSD of the local Edinburgh homeless charity Streetwork.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone and praying it doesn’t rain for those queuing on the 21st!

A “Secret” Release for RSD! With Record Store Day imminent, you won’t find this special LP by one of the UK’s most iconic bands in any store on 21st April. Except one. Humble Pie will only be available from Pie & Vinyl. Obvious? Bucking the trend of Record Store Day or does this one-off LP celebrate the spirit of RSD more than any other release? Inspired by Katherine who led Immediate Records to Pie & Vinyl and discoveries that linked her Southsea to dramatic events on the pier over 40 years ago involving Humble Pie that culminated in a truly local effort to press the LP at Portsmouth’s Vinyl Presents and on sale in Southsea for RSD. Says Immediate Records’ Rob Caiger: “Wouldn’t it be great in doing all of this, a new fan discovers Humble Pie in Pie & Vinyl. There’s no better place to hear new sounds, however old, then in a record shop and that’s just one reason why we should celebrate Record Store Day.”  1,000 LPs with an exclusive track are at Pie & Vinyl and worldwide from 22 April for one week via

This year is our first Record Store Day. Slide Record Shop is a new independent record shop that opened in Bedford in 2017. We champion great independent music across many genres. As well as new releases, we also have a carefully curated selection of second-hand records.  The shop is run by myself and my husband, Warren Alsop, a long-time music lover, vinyl addict, and ocasional DJ. Bedford is a brilliant, music-loving town, who have been incredibly supportive of us and we have a section dedicated to local artists. On RSD18 we are celebrating Bedford’s great musical chops with performances from two brilliant acts that hail from Bedford. First up will be Bedford’s finest raw rocking’ quartet - Henry and the Bleeders who will be sharing a pretty special acoustic set with us all.  Their third studio album 'LOOKING BACKWARDS' is out now on Western Star Records. Facebook: @henryandthebleeders Twitter: @HatBOfficial Secondly, we will have an acoustic performance from Danni Nicholls. 2017 saw Danni opening for Lucinda Williams plus AMAUK nominations for 'UK Album of the Year 2017' for 'Mockingbird Lane’ and 'UK Artist of the Year 2018’ as well as a nomination for ‘Best Country/Folk Act’ at the 2018 Unsigned Music Awards. Stanton’s Music Shop

Tipton Road, Dudley DY1 4SQ

(This shop is a non RSD stockist)

Do you have a favourite record from the 1950’s? Perhaps it’s linked to a particular story or memory…

Black Country Living Museum is heading to Dudley’s Fountain Arcade on Saturday 21 April to find the town’s favourite 50’s tunes in order to create a community playlist for its recreation of Stanton’s Music shop.

The Museum has been calling out for memories of Stanton’s since February but now wants to enlist the help of local people to help decide which songs should be played in the recreated shop which will form part of its new 1940s-60s historic town.

Black Country Radio will be on hand to help set the scene on the day, broadcasting live from the event which falls on the same day as record shops nationwide take part in National Record Store Day.*

Glenis Williams, Community Engagement Manager at the Museum comments “Music can have such an emotive effect on people and we hope that the people of Dudley will come and join us on 21st April to share their favourite songs of the era so that when we open the recreated Stanton’s in 2022, its visitors will get a sense of the mood of the Black Country in the 1950s.
