Album of the Month: Lucy Dacus – Forever is a Feeling

Lucy Dacus is back with Forever Is a Feeling, and let’s just say, she’s not holding back. This album is bigger, bolder, and full of emotional gut punches (the good kind). Wrapped in a Renaissance-inspired aesthetic, Forever Is a Feeling blends traditional sounds with lush production, creating something both timeless and refreshingly modern.

What's the sound?

It kicks off with Calliope, an instrumental track that sets the mood like the opening scene of a great movie. Collaborators like Bartees Strange, Jay Som, and Hozier help bring new textures to Dacus’s signature storytelling. Where Home Video reflected on youth, this album does the opposite. Diving headfirst into grown-up love, messy emotions, and tough choices. Ankles is playful and intense, Limerence wrestles with commitment fears, and Best Guess might just be your new favourite wedding song. Plus, her boygenius bandmates, Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, make a few welcome appearances.

It all wraps up with Lost Time, a reminder that nothing lasts forever - but that’s what makes it special. Honest, lush, and extremely addictive, Forever Is a Feeling is an early standout of the year.

By now the debate between digital and vinyl DJs as to which format is superior has probably reached a truce. After all, both formats have been around long enough to show that there’s enough space for them to happily coexist. But when it comes to the question of digital or vinyl, what’s still very much true is that DJs have strong preferences. For some, vinyl represents the purest form of the craft—hands-on, tactile, and deeply connected to the roots of DJ culture. Others embrace digital DJing for its flexibility, convenience and creative tools. But beyond the surface differences between vinyl and digital, there are characteristics that can actually wind up shaping a DJ’s coreidentity. From mixing techniques to music discovery, audience perception and performance style, vinyl and digital each impact a DJ’s style in unique ways. Whether you’re weighing up which path to take or simply curious about how they compare, understanding these key differences can highlight what you value when itcomes to DJing and even music in general.
