I’ve grown up with music as a part of everyday life for the past 30+ years. Plus, being regular loyal customers to 101, when it became available to purchase it seemed like an opportunity that couldn’t be passed up. We couldn’t let what has been a staple of Farnham for 30 plus years disappear!
Since April 4th 2022 we have strived to have a welcoming vibe, fair prices and mainly a bit of something for everyone.
Clutch to Taylor Swift, Harry Styles to Public Enemy and Miles Davis to Sergeant Thunderhoof; we’ve built an eclectic but well curated mix. From your stadium thrillers to pub fillers. It’s all bangers no mash here at 101! We have a fantastic loyal customer base which is ever growing each day. Students and townsfolk alike discovering 101’s selection of new and second-hand vinyl, CDs and Merch.
The Sound Machine in Reading. I spent many a happy Saturday expanding my rock horizons buying new and second hand CDs!
Rich: My first Record Store Day in 2014 at 101 Collectors Records. The buzz of waiting in line, chatting to fellow punters and getting the fresh releases back home.
Kenny: Managing the shop, stocking smaller bands, playing their albums (some of which are my favourite records!)
Also, customers purchasing just from what you’re playing and then chatting about it and coming back, asking for more recommendations.
Probably the most important day in the Calendar for 101. Being only a small store stocking 75-80% of the most relevant titles all gauged on customers feedback before the event. Wishlists are vital. Every year has different levels of success but we’ve had a positive experience from our first two years of ownership!
Rich: Tool at Brixton Academy in 2001.
Kenny: Black Sabbath, Soundgarden (playing Superunknown in full) and Motorhead at Hyde Park in 2014
