About Les Aldrich
Les Aldrich Music first opened its doors in North London’s Muswell Hill in May 1945, although our roots in Muswell Hill date back over 100 years, making us the oldest music shop in North London.
Over the years Les Aldrich has adapted and grown along with local residents to suit the community it serves so whilst we do sell CDs and vinyl, our focus is currently on instruments (new and second hand) and sheet music as well as a wide variety of accessories and extras. We also have instrument repairers for woodwind, brass, guitars and bowed stringed instruments.
In 2013, Ian Rosenblatt became the owner of Les Aldrich. Ian Rosenblatt had been a customer at the shop for 25 years, and when the previous owner mentioned to him in April 2013 that he was thinking of closing the shop, Ian decided to buy it as a going concern and continues to take an active role in the running of it.
Ian Rosenblatt OBE, is a lawyer and also a supporter of charitable causes, notably in the field of classical music. He founded and sponsored Rosenblatt Recitals, London's only world-class series of opera recitals, inaugurated in 2000 and based between the 2012/13 season and June 2016 at Wigmore Hall. He also supports a number of other musical causes and a variety of charities in other social and medical fields.
