After his performance at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Mike Oldfield surprised and delighted fans when he returned to huge acclaim after a six-year absence from recording with ‘Man On The Rocks’. Six months later, the powerfully poignant track ‘Nuclear’ – a song about Oldfield’s grandfather’s experiences in the First World War – was selected by director Hideo Kojima for inclusion in the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 trailer for computer game ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’. The track became an enormous word-of-mouth hit across world streaming services. Now it’s being released on a strictly limited picture disc 7” single. Konami Entertainment have granted an image from the game on the A-side, while the flip features an exclusive still of Mike and up and coming vocalist Luke Spiller (The Struts) taken during the filming of the ‘Sailing’ video in the Bahamas in January 2014.
