12 June 2020: We are proud to announce the shortlist of 25 artists who are in the running to win our #RSDUnsigned competition in partnership with Sound Performance.
Launched for the third year, the competition gives one talented and unsigned UK artist the opportunity to have their music pressed onto vinyl for free!
This year we have been blown away by the amount of incredibly talented artists who have taken part in the competition and are thrilled to reveal the shortlist below:

Previous winners include Barbudo and Heavy Rapids who have gone on to receive great radio support, perform alongside bands such as The Courteeners, secure slots at festivals and even headline their own tours.
The 25 shortlisted artists will be narrowed down to just one by our team of music-loving experts and revealed in August!

Frank and Dean - Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes
Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes are an English punk rock band formed in 2015 by frontman Frank Carter with guitarist Dean Richardson. Famed for their raucous live shows, the band released their debut album Blossom in 2015, and the follow-ups Modern Ruin in 2017 and End of Suffering in 2019, which earned them a Top 5 position in the UK Album Charts.
Sam Ford – Editor of So Young Magazine
So Young magazine is a printed publication, fully illustrated by emerging and contemporary illustrators focusing on new artists and bands. In a time of disposable music and art, they aim to document what is going on right now up and down the country and overseas in pubs, clubs, squats and living rooms.
Chris Marksberry – Managing Director of Sound Performance
Chris Marksberry is the Managing Director of Sound Performance; a vinyl manufacturing company for over 25 years. Sound Performance are passionate about vinyl and its resurgence which has enabled artists and labels to thrive. In other words, they work behind the scenes to bring us the records we know and love.
Ashli Todd – Owner of Spillers Records
Ashli Todd is the owner of Spillers Records, established in 1894 which is recognised as the oldest record shop in the world. Located in Cardiff’s historic Morgan Arcade, they sell an eclectic mix of genres on CD and vinyl as well as hosting live gigs and music events.
