Record Store Day 2018 to take place on Saturday 21st April

UK partners with Rega Research, Sound Performance, Friels Cider, and Fred Perry

9th January 2018, London: The 11th Record Store Day will take place on Saturday 21st April 2018.

Over the last 10 years, the event has become one of the most eagerly anticipated and important events for vinyl fans up and down the country. In 2017, over 500 artists released limited edition vinyl products available exclusively in over 200 participating stores. 2018’s releases are to be revealed in early March.

The success of the event has sparked a huge turnaround in fortunes for the nation’s independent record stores, with new shops opening at nearly one a week since last year’s Record Store Day.

And the vinyl boom continues as the latest industry market statistics from the Entertainment Retailers Association show vinyl sales growing for the10th year by a further 34% in 2017 to a £88m business.

Record Store Day is delighted to reveal the music-loving brands that are supporting the indie record shop community in 2018 are:

Rega Research returns as our Official Turntable and Audio Partner for the 4th year running. Rega will once again be pleasing audiophiles with a one-off design for a limited edition Record Store Day turntable. The turntable will be available exclusively from participating stores with a special surprise for a limited number of buyers.

We are also excited to welcome Sound Performance as our first ever Official Vinyl Manufacturing Partner. Over the coming weeks Record Store Day & Sound Performance will be launching a competition to support the UK’s best unsigned talent. Chris Marksberry, Managing Director of Sound Performance, said, “The re-birth of vinyl has given the music industry a new dynamism and Record Store Day has played a crucial role in bringing the format back. We share the values of Record Store Day and the support they give to independent record stores, record labels and the industry as a whole. Friels Cider are supporting this year’s event as our first ever Official Cider Partner and will soon be launching a limited edition promotional can available nationwide.
