BBC 6 Music's Lauren Laverne is taking her show to Spillers Records in Cardiff

As part of BBC Music’s celebration of Record Store Day 2018, on Friday 20th April Lauren Laverne is taking her show on the road heading to Spillers Records in Cardiff - the oldest record store in the world - to revel in all things vinyl.

Lauren is joined by Welsh icons Gwenno and Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys who go back to back in a vinyl-only Desert Island Disco; and Canadian-born American singer and songwriter Haley - formerly Haley Bonar - will be performing tracks from her limited edition RSD release. Lauren will also be talking to shop owners, record junkies and the general public all about this year's list of releases, and why the black stuff holds such a special place in our lives.

Lauren says: “I love taking my show on the road for Record Store Day, but to be going to Spillers in Cardiff - the world’s oldest record store - this year is something really special. We’ll be chatting to the team there and will be joined by Gwenno and Gruff Rhys, with music from Haley. It’s going to be a fantastic show and I’m so looking forward to be heading to Wales’ capital city!”

Also, in their show from 1-4pm today, Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie will be treating listeners to some of the special releases that are coming out for Record Store Day.

And on Saturday 21 April, all day from 7am, 6 Music’s presenters will be fully curating the music in their shows, playing music they’ve bought from record stores over the years.
