3rd March: Record Store Day UK is thrilled to announce that The Coronas will be headlining our official launch event party on Wednesday 11th March 2015.
The event will take place at @SisterRayAce in Shoreditch using Ace Hotel’s amazing venue, ‘Miranda’.
XFM’s very own John Kennedy will announce the official list of releases for Record Store Day 2015, which will be followed by an exclusive acoustic performance from The Coronas, a band hotly tipped by XFM as one of 2015’s Great X-Pectations.
Danny O’Reilly, lead singer of the band, said “We are delighted to show our support for independent record stores and we're really looking forward to playing at the Record Store Day Launch”
To add to the excitement, 50 wristbands for the show will be given away FREE to Record Store Day fans via Sister Ray Ace to the first 50 customers who arrive at the shop from 10am tomorrow morning (Thursday 5th March).
Phil Barton, owner of legendary indie record shops Sister Ray and Sister Ray Ace, said “We are extremely proud to be hosting the Record Store Day launch event this year. It’s always a fantastic way to celebrate the culture of independent record shops as we look forward to the exclusive releases we’ll be receiving on 18th April”
In addition, My Generation Beer Company, Record Store Day’s official drinks partner, will be serving their new, music-themed craft ale to the launch event attendees. The party will be bringing together quality beer with quality music and will be a great way to celebrate Record Store Day’s upcoming releases.
The Coronas have sold out everywhere from Dublin’s 13,000-capacity 3 Arena (formerly the o2) to The Olympia Theatre, where they played a record-breaking six night run, and supported Sir Paul McCartney, The Script, Justin Timberlake and Pink on a full UK tour.
Their debut album, The Long Way, is out on the 4th May. In March 2015, they will also embark on a full UK headline tour http://thecoronas.net

Notes to Editor
Record Store Day was conceived 9 years ago in the USA and was brought to the UK a year later. Now in its 8th year and co-ordinated by the Entertainment Retailers Association and Spencer Hickman, the day brings together hundreds of the UK’s independent record shops to celebrate their own unique culture. Exclusive vinyl is made available on the day and the stores often have live shows and other in store events to celebrate the day.
