13th October 2015: Record Store Day UK is thrilled to announce that Rega Research will once again be the official turntable and audio partner of the annual UK event.
The partnership will enter its second year after the success of Rega’s Record Store Day branded turntables made available through independent shops for Record Store Day 2015. All 500 of the limited edition range sold soon after the day – including the 12 decks secretly signed by the likes of Liam Gallagher, Royal Blood and Suede.
Paul Darwin, Head of Sales at Rega, said of the continuing partnership “After the massive success of Record Store Day 2015 it was a no brainer for us to be involved again. The shared promotion of vinyl and its means of reproduction coupled with support for independent retailers matches our ethos, policies and dealers directly and we look forward to working in tandem again this coming year.”
Rega Research was formed over 40 years ago and now employs over 90 people in a purpose built factory in Southend on Sea. Performance, reliability, value for money and incorporating advanced and often unique engineering solutions are all keystones of Rega designs. Most recently, Rega were awarded the 2015 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of their outstanding growth in the market over the last few years.
Kim Bayley, CEO of the Entertainment Retailers Association which coordinates Record Store Day in the UK, said “It’s fantastic to continue working with Rega after such a successful year. With their independent heritage and strong affinity to vinyl culture, they really are the perfect partner for Record Store Day and we are looking forward to working together for 2016’s event”
Record Store Day planning for 2016 is well underway and we are looking forward to sharing more exciting announcements about the event with you soon.
