18th August, London: Sister Cookie, the 2020 RSD Unsigned winner, has today announced details of her debut album ‘In The Blue Corner’. It will be released later this year on 5 November from indie record shops
In 2020, Sister Cookie won the Record Store Day Unsigned competition, which gives one talented DIY UK artist the opportunity to have their music pressed onto vinyl and stocked on the shelves of record stores around the UK.
The competition, which is run in partnership with Sound Performance, had more entries than ever before in 2020 and was judged by a panel of industry experts including Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Spillers Records, So Young Magazine & Sound Performance.
Frank and Dean (The Rattlesnakes) commented that “Sister Cookie had the most original sound. Like Little Richard, Mark Ronson, Nina Simone and Nick Cave all got locked in a New Orleans speakeasy.”
Since Sister Cookie won the competition, she has released two singles ‘(You’re Never More Than) Seven Feet Away’ and ‘Can’t Get It When You Want It’ which have been picked up by media such as Clash Magazine, BBC London, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 and more.
Sister Cookie’s album will be available as a limited-edition turquoise sparkle vinyl only from independent record shops on Friday 5th November.
