First up, is Mairead with her classic choice: Patti Smith - 'Horses'
'Horses' is one of the best debut albums ever made!
Patti Smith changed the face of Rock n Roll in the 70’s, Women simply didn’t make records like “Horses” until she did! Also - My favourite album cover, shot by “Robert Mapplethorpe” - no one does androgynous like Patti! X
'Horses' & 'Redono Beach' are my go to's’ on the album.
Next up is Jim with his new choice 'Thom Yorke - Anima'
I've loved this record since it came out and I'm still hearing new things on it.
There are so many layers and so much detail in it.
'Dawn Chorus' is one of the most beautiful things Yorke has ever done; with such strong meditative qualities, and strangely uplifting, it is perfect for introspection in quarantine.
And a choice from James with Fela Kuti's 'Zombie'
The definitive album by the king of Afrobeat - Fela Kuti’s ‘Zombie’ may be the single most influential album to ever come out of Nigeria! Some much-needed rhythms to jam with at home!
Finally, we have Chris with Nirvana's In-Utero
An album that will never leave me, so now I never leave home it’s quite fitting. This record fills me with nostalgia from start to end, and so again, perfect for these days of isolation. The added bonus is that it has Possibly the greatest drum sound of any record ever. 🤘
